Arenridge Chardonnay 2026

Arenridge Chardonnay 2026

A finely-balanced Chardonnay from a premium vintage — richer in detail, finer in balance, generous in depth, and our most complete wine yet.

The 2026 vintage delivered prime Chardonnay conditions across the Hunter. At Arenridge, the optimal season among our finest yet, helping to shape a wine of generosity and depth, balanced by a fine line of natural acidity and beautifully integrated French oak. Peach and a hint of pineapple lead the nose, layered with the nutty, toasted complexity of new French oak. Extended lees contact brings a luxurious creaminess to the palate, while the wine's natural acidity provides freshness, length and definition.

At 14%, it is slightly lighter than the 2025, yet remarkably full-bodied and complete. There is richness without heaviness — ripe fruit, savoury oak and creamy texture held together by a freshness that carries through to a long, composed finish. The 2025 release established the Arenridge style: generous, expressive and unmistakably Hunter. The 2026 takes that style a step further — greater refinement, greater complexity and an effortless balance between fruit, oak, texture and acidity. Immediately compelling, but with the structure and complexity to evolve beautifully in bottle, this is an exceptional expression of Arenridge Chardonnay.

Tasting Notes

Rip and full bodied with a line of acidity. The use of new French oak gives a nutty complexity alongside notes of pineapple, peach and a creamy texture from lees contact.

Good autumn and winter rainfall replenished soil moisture and supported healthy vine growth. Calm flowering conditions helped achieve good fruit set and healthy crop levels.

Warm days and cool nights allowed slow and even ripening with some significant heat in early January, followed by useful rainfall helping the vines avoid excessive stress during the lead-up to harvest. The mostly dry harvest conditions allowed fruit to be picked at optimal maturity.

The story of Arenridge
begins with the land.

Mineral-rich soils and a powerful sense of place define Arenridge Wines. Nestled beneath the Brokenback Range in the Hunter Valley, Arenridge is guided by an approach that values provenance over production and patience over scale.

The result is a wine shaped not by excess, but by a deep respect for place — wines that speak quietly, yet unmistakably, of where they come from. The inaugural single-vineyard Chardonnay is an elegant expression of site, season, and meticulous craftsmanship.
